First Haircut

I gave Benjamin his first haircut today, and from the 'after' picture below, I think he was quite pleased with it. I was happy to see he kept his mohawk (the hair on top of his head refuses to go flat).

Here are a couple pictures of Benjamin in my latest garage sale purchase! You have to LOVE that hair :) And so far, he and Maully get along just fine - although Maully does do a lot of head butting at his hands to make him pet her.

4 months

Benjamin had his 4 month checkup today and he now weighs 19lbs 3oz (97th percentile) and is 26.5" tall (90th percentile). His latest activity (besides his laughing) is eating rice cereal and making a mess while he does it!

Benjamin's cousins come to visit

Benjamin spent a fun week playing with his cousins Jonathon & Joel Kambulow, along with Grandma. Benjamin also went for his first swim in the pool!

3 months

Benjamin is now a little over 3 months old! And as you can see when comparing the above pictures, a lot has changed :) He is losing his hair all over, except for his mohawk! That continues to grow and can now be brushed down (which i find very sad! i loved his monkey hair!). Ben also has dropped his middle of the night feedings, which lets me sleep through the night! I feed him at 9:30/10pm, and don't see him again until 8am the next morning. Unfortunately, his beautiful night time sleeping still does not want to carry into the day. He has his internal alarm clock set so that he only naps for 30 to 45 min. But we are working hard on improving that! His other new trick is laughing - which makes Sam and I laugh right along with him! Unfortunately we can't post that on the web (yet! we are getting a video camera so we should be able to post little clips soon). And he loves to be walked around so he can look at things. This would be easy to do if he didn't already weigh 17lbs (approximately, did this on our home scale so not as detailed as the doctors office). He is definitely giving his mother a good workout and making me very grateful for the Bjorn carrier!

Thanks to Grandma and my hard work, Benjamin now has a fully decorated bedroom!!

2 Months

Today Benjamin is 2 months old and he now weighs 14lbs-14oz (97th percentile) and is 24 1/8" (90th percentile) tall! I don't have any pictures to post of him on his 2 month birthday as he is not very happy today. He got his immunization shots and my poor boy has just been miserable ever since! So the following pictures are of him in happier times, playing with his favorite toys. The lamaze block he loves to thread his arm through and wave all around. The sesame street toys makes him laugh as he wildly waves his arms at them and makes them swing.

Our new dog

Okay, it's really still Maully...but she looks like a new dog :) Sam and I decided to shave her to reduce the amount of fur in our pool and our house! Took us 2 hrs - that dog has, or really had, a lot of fur. But at least now her head looks proportional to the rest of her body!

Long awaited updated

Well, we've been a little slow in updating our blog. We've been trying really hard to get Benjamin on a schedule so that he would sleep more during the day (or for that matter sleep at all!) so the blogging fell behind. So to summarize: at his 1 month appointment, Benjamin was 11lbs-10oz and was 23.5" tall (95th percentile for both). We had to return to the doctor 1 week later as he went from being a baby that never spit up or burped to vomitting, so they wanted to make sure he wasn't losing weight. He weighed in at 12lbs-4oz, so no reason to worry! The vomitting was probably just a mild form of acid reflux and now we just keep a lot of burp cloths around when feeding. He has also started to hold up his head when on tummy time and just adores looking at himself in the mirror or watching his mobile. And those are really the only major changes...so enjoy the pictures.

3 weeks

Benjamin turned 3 weeks old on the weekend and celebrated it by doing some new stuff! Daddy gave him his 1st bottle - which he devoured in less than 10 minutes! Although that's not suprising considering how this boy eats. At his 2 week checkup, he was 22.5" long and 9lbs-14oz -- he had gained 14oz in 1 week!! Benjamin also gave us his first smile :) He prefers to save the big ones for Daddy but Mommy and Grandma can get some small ones from him.

2 weeks

Today Benjamin is 2 weeks old and there is not much news to tell :) He eats, poos (8 to 10 times a day!), sleeps (sometimes does 5hr stretches in the night!!), fusses (i have cut out onions, tomatos, garlic and broccoli from my diet so we're waiting to see if that helps), plays happily by himself in the mornings, and just loves to be held and cuddled. We've attempted a couple short shopping trips and he stays fast asleep in his car seat, as long as you keep moving! Tomorrow we returnn to the doctor to find out how much he has grown.
