March 1st

This post is just to make all the family and friends back in Canada jealous of our weather :) So here is Benjamin hanging outside enjoying our March weather and my latest garage sale purchase (the bib is for the constant drooling thanks to Bens upper 2 molars coming in).

Walking

This video is just for the family & friends far away who can't see Benjamins latest accomplishment in person!

February

With no grandparents around to take pictures, Benjamin hasn't had an abundance of photos to be posted on the blog. So here are just a couple from February. The 1st 1 is of his 1st bike trip with Sam & I and the 2nd is of his usual mischievous self (every chance he gets he crawls over to make a mess with that tree! )

Opening Doors

Well after enough times at being frustrated at mommy/daddy disappearing behind a closed door, Benjamin decided it was time to learn to open those doors. As long as the door has a lever handle (all of our doors do), Benjamin will open it. It doesn't matter if it pushes or pulls open, he has mastered them both. sigh.

1 Year

At Benjamin's 1 year checkup he weighed in at 22lbs-13oz (50th percentile) and measured 31.5" (95th percentile) in height. That means our little boy has gained 13lbs-13oz in 1 year and grew 9.5"! He has also learned to stand on his own (when he's not thinking about it), open and shut doors (as shown by the next post), feed himself with a spoon (with 'guidance' from mom), mastered the signing of the word "more"...and most importantly he finally does a 'proper' crawl :) There has been no new teeth in 3.5 months so he currently still has 6 although every fussy day/drooly day/non-napping day for the past 3 months has been blamed on teeth! He also LOVES to play ball with dad and drive his little cars around the house (going 'vroom' as he does it). However, his all time favorite activity is still mimicking actions/sounds that we do - especially if it makes us laugh.

The following pictures are a comparison of how our boy has changed (and grown!!) this past year. What the pictures aren't able to show - is that the current day picture took a lot more 'coaxing' (cheerios) to get him to remain in the chair long enough for a picture :)

And you can't forget about his styling hair...(this was him at 3 months). Sigh, I do miss his mohawk.

Birthday Party

Benjamins Nana and Papa were down for Benjamins birthday weekend so at the last minute we decided to have a little party with them and 2 boys that are close to his age (about 6 months older). It was just adorable watching these boys play together!!!
Since Benjamin is severely allergic to eggs (and nuts) I made him a frozen yogurt cake for his birthday. And that cake just didn't make the good 'messy face' of a typical birthday cake :(
And here is our birthday boy taking a break from all the fun.

Christmas Afternoon

Well you can't have Christmas without snow so after Benjamin's morning nap we drove 2hrs up north into the mountains to find some snow!!

Christmas Morning

Here are a few of our 100+ shots from Christmas morning. Benjamin loved all of his gifts, but mostly he enjoyed the boxes they came in :) He would take the items in and out of the boxes and just give us the biggest grin. It made for a wonderful Christmas!

Funny Face

Benjamin has a huge repertoire of facial expressions. He tends to imitate anything we do, and if it makes us laugh he'll just keep repeating. This next face is definitely one of our favorites.

Christmas Lights

Every year I go to this 1 crazily decorated street to look at the Christmas lights. You often have to park blocks away and the street just has tons of people walking down it to look at the houses. I think it's 1 of my highlights of living here :) Sam always has to tag along, but this year I got to take Grandma and Benjamin! So we bundled up since it was about 10°C here, or 50°F for those americans reading the blog :) I really don't think Benjamin and I would ever survive those canadian winters again. Even Grandma is amazed how fast she climatized to this weather.

Green Peppers Part 2

This video isn't as humorous as part 1, but I thought it would be nice to post an update.

More pictures

This next toy is Benjamin's favorite. He just loves to put the balls (or any other small toy nearby) in the holes and watch them go down.
All bundled up for our cold arizona weather

Off to the park with Grandma

This is how Benjamin and Grandma spend their time while mommy & daddy are at work

Play Time

Benjamin's favorite activity during play time is pulling himself up on the toy box and taking all his toys out :)
Then there is play time with Daddy...
