Hanging out with mommy

Our boy just keeps growing! On Wednesday we had a doctors appointment, and they were concerned with his significant weight loss so the lactation consultant had us start doing supplemental feeding with Benjamin for 2 days and to feed every 2.5 hrs. We returned Friday for another weigh in, hoping he met his goal of gaining 2 ounces....and he had put on 11 ounces!! The doctor had to weigh him twice she was in such shock :)

The following are some pictures of Mommy and Benjamin hanging out while poor daddy is at work. Daddy pictures will be coming shortly!

Benjamin Thomas is born!

He's here!

here's the scoop:

Marlene's water broke at about 4am Saturday Jan. 20 - we waited around until 8am before heading to the hospital because she wasn't feeling any contractions, and we knew it was going to be a long day.

Induction started around noon, and real labor began around 2pm. After 2 and a half hours of pushing, little Ben arrived at 3:25am Sunday. Look at that head!
Ben was 9 lbs, 0 oz, and 22 inches long. His head looks normalish now. I'll let the pictures speak from here:

more to come! come back often!

2.5 weeks to go

Here is me at 37.5 weeks, carrying our 8lbs-6oz boy.

Almost here...

This boy of ours is definitely getting used to having his picture taken. We were sent for a 3D ultrasound today as my amniotic fluid has been measuring high and our doctor was thinking I may have to be induced next week (at 38 weeks) . The ultrasound did still show high levels, but the genetic specialist couldn't see anything wrong with our boy and since the levels are just borderline high he felt that it is still safe for me to stick with our original due date. However....he strongly recommends not being allowed to go past the due date as baby Waters is now measuring approximately 8lbs-6oz, with 2.5 weeks to go. According to the doctor, I will be giving birth to a toddler :) I've included a couple of the 3D ultrasounds. He refused to move his hands away from his head, so it was hard to get clear shots of his face. He is looking down in both of these with his fist up by his eyes.

Baby shower!!

Well another ultrasound has come and gone. Our boy is still looking perfectly healthy and at his 34 week ultrasound they were approximating his weight as being 6lbs 3oz. He is definitely not going to be a small baby :)

Some friends here in AZ also gave me a baby shower since the last posting. I put up a few pictures for those of you back in Canada that were too far to make it. The timing for it was perfect though as Mom was still here and could come!

the shirt below says 'future mr. right'

the next 3 pictures are from the game "guess what chocolate bar is melted in that diaper..."

I know I've been slow at updating since our last ultrasound but better late than never!! They are leaving our due date as is. Our boy is still measuring large, but only by a couple weeks. In fact, it is only his head that is still measuring in the 99.8% percentile. So they do want another ultrasound in another couple of weeks, just to watch his head growth. However, for those of you that know my history, I have been repeatedly told he does not have hydrocephalus as his ventricles are appearing perfectly normal in the ultrasound. He just has a charlie brown head (another quote from our ultrasound technician!). We did get some better pictures of him during this last ultrasound and this time I really can tell it's his face!! The top picture is the side profile with his hand reaching up, and the bottom he is looking right at us. This ultrasound was done at week 30 and they were putting his weight at 3lbs-15oz.

Our boy is growing!!

Well we went for another ultrasound today, and although I am only at 27.5 weeks...our big boy is measuring at 31 weeks and is in the 99th percentile! I'm definitely thinking a future volleyball star :) Due to how far ahead he is measuring, the doctor considered changing my due date from Jan 25th until Jan 3rd. However, for now they are going to leave it and they want me back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound to check how he is growing. Overall he is doing GREAT though!! His chest was moving up & down showing his breathing (which they said is rare to see at 27.5 weeks) and everything looked normal, just big :) Sam is hoping for a December baby so we can get the tax credit this year but I am wanting him to stay far away from Christmas!!

He didn't want to turn to face the ultrasound at all today, so I have a hard time telling anything from the pictures. However, to the right is a picture of his face and I let sam describe it: Some people will see a face, others will see a sailboat, and still others will see Jimmy Carter riding a horse.

Third trimester

Well I have been harassed with emails asking for pictures of my growing belly so here it is as we enter the 3rd trimester. I'm now at 26 weeks and still doing just fine. Sam finally felt the baby moving this past week. "Special Agent", "Nabisco Cocacola", or "Poseidon Spatula" (some of Sams names for our baby), seems to get very active after dinner time and kick/elbow hard at the left side of my belly.

It's a BOY!!!

We have made it to the half way mark (20 weeks) and today's ultrasound showed...it is DEFINITELY a boy. And a BIG boy at that. He is measuring at 21.5 weeks and as the technician called him "chunky" . We're happy to say all his body parts are there, and as they should be. The top picture is the side profile shot of him. You can see his head, looks like he's blowing bubbles out of his mouth, and his little arm is sticking up beside his head, looking like it's punching upwards towards the bubbles. For a little scarier shot..the bottom picture is his face straight on where you can see his eyes and a little of his nose, mouth & chin.
